Uberfluff

Actually, I don't have any tattoos.  I can't even commit to what I want to eat for breakfast this morning, so choosing something to ink into my skin is defnitely too big a decision for me.  (Not to mention my super-wussy fear of needles, which is also a major deterrent.)  I do find it interesting, however, that so many people can pick an image or quote or something and say to the world, "This.  This is me.  So much so that I'm going to permanently etch it into my body."  I kind of envy that.  (Also, I envy not being afraid of needles.  And money.  I definitely envy money.  And good looks.  But we've travelled completely off the tattoo subject at this point.)  Anyway, my awe is increased when you consider these (courtesy of this guy, link thanks to AnneArchy) unicorn tattoos:

Everything here makes 'sense' except for the presence of a unicorn. Do unicorns hustle? I thought they just hung out with medieval virgins. Or are hustlers so badass thay they can acquire money, jewels, and mythical creatures?

I've actually seen this one before in another bad tattoo album, but I'm still in awe of the fact that someone, somewhere has a tattoo of a unicorn smoking a cigarette while being humped by a pegasus. On a cloud. His mother must be so proud.

Although, of course, the truly geeky will probably have all manner of techinical corrections and clarifications to make.  ("Hey now, Imperial walkers were only deployed in scouting situations," and so on.  If I knew any Star Trek trivia, I'd add that, but my only knowledge of that show is that reversing the polarity apparently solves every possible technical problem.

Good morning! Alas, because of the rather dull and prosaic need to pay bills and keep the electricity on, this is going to be a thin week for blog entries.  But we'll do our best.  In the meantime, do check out the newest Daily Fluff and the update to our Lazy Screenwriter's Guide to Formulaic Magic.  (With summer blockbuster season upon us, it seemed like a good time to review more of our favorite movie cliches.)  And if you haven't seen it yet, don't forget about Hulagan's latest Fluff Five too. 

I have not, as of yet, committed to regularly watching and reviewing So You Think You Can Dance, even though I do enjoy it a lot.  For one thing, I'm still suffering from American Idol fatigue.  I'm not sure I'm ready to commit yet to another reality show, even though it doesn't have as many annoying factors.  (I do think it's generally a fair competition, and I have yet to see much egregious bias on the part of the judges.  And the crazy, substance-abusing chick judge is actually hard on people sometimes.)  Another not inconsiderable factor is the possibility that it will conflict with the new season of Burn Notice, which starts June 4th and which I am definitely not going to be missing.  So we'll see if SYTYCD starts to rate an "Issues With" column as the the season goes on, but at least for the auditions phase, I think we'll stick to the occasional blog mention.

That said, I find the auditions process on SYTYCD even more perplexing that on AI.  In the end, I can understand how people become so delusional about their singing ability.  It's not an easy thing to tell your friend that when she sings it sounds like two cats in a sack.  Often, it's not even very funny to listen to, so the lie comes that much easier.  But I don't understand how you can be a horrible dancer and still find the support and necessary self-delusion to make a total fool of yourself on camera.  I mean, I think of myself as a nice person and a decent friend, but if I knew someone who showed me this routine that they were going to use in an audition, I don't think I would ever stop mocking them.  She could tell me that she had just been diagnosed with cancer and it was her dying wish to do this routine on SYTYCD, and I still think I would have a hard time keeping a straight face:

A phrase used to describe the unfortunate occurrence at a poorly lit night club when your partner can drop it like it's hot, but in the glare of natural light turns out to be not so good looking. While this happens to both sexes, it is most unfortunate when it happens to a female. Since many guys don't dance or are rhythmically-challenged, women fall victim to a guy who can shake it.
 
Girl 1: You danced all night with that guy, what happened?
Girl 2: Dance 10, looks 3! He had some Michael Jackson moves, but unfortunately also had some Michael Jackson looks.
