What's the Deal with Superman - Prue 11/06/2008
I notice that there’s a new Mortal Kombat game coming out soon that features superheroes in it. This of course leads to the age-old question: Can anyone really beat Superman? I know that Lex Luthor always keeps some spare kryptonite around for extra drama, but assuming you’re not talking about a kryptonite-based situation, I just don’t see how he’s beatable. Bullets bounce off of his retinas, so I don’t see Wolverine’s claws doing any real damage. In fact, you’d think that just hitting him would, at a minimum, break your hand. He can survive in space and stop runaway airplanes and such, so I don’t see anyone’s lightning power or special freeze rays doing any good either. (Though feel free to correct me.) I know he always struggles a bit in the movies, but I always found it a little lame. (Not to mention that it strains credibility that a couple ounces of kryptonite can completely counter all the super-powers he gets from Earth’s yellow sun—or whatever. That doesn’t make any damned sense at all. It’s a rock. Being around a piece of rock makes the invincible guy turn into a shuddering junkie. Seriously?) |
